UtilitiesElectric ServiceThe majority of Presque Isle County?s electric power is provided by Presque Isle Electric and Gas (PIE&G) which is headquartered in Onaway. Alpena Power serves the southern portion of Presque Isle Township.Consumers Energy provides electricity to Rogers City with three-phase power needed for operating heavy machinery or equipment available throughout Rogers City and at various other locations throughout the county. Gas ServiceNatural gas is provided by Presque Isle Electric and Gas, Aurora Gas Company and DTE Energy/MichCon.CommunicationsVerizon provides local telephone service throughout the County with residents having the option of choosing long distance service from several long distance carriers. Verizon provides broadband services such as Integrated Services Network (ISDN) and T-1 lines as well as dial-up Internet services.Cellular telephone services from NPI Wireless, Cellular One, Alltel, and Nextel are available with several communications towers located in Presque Isle County for enhanced reception. High speed wireless internet service is available in Rogers City and Onaway through Internet 2000 and in Rogers City, Presque Isle and the Posen area through Speednet. Wireless service is comparable to traditional T-1 communication service.Charter Communications is the major cable television service provider on the east side of the County, with service in Rogers City, the Village of Posen, Presque Isle Township, Posen Township and Moltke Township. Charter's services also include high-speed internet service. Northwoods Cable provides service in the Onaway area. Where these services are not available, many residents rely on satellite dishes with satellite high-speed Internet service available as well.
